Gustav Berggren

Associate Prof. Molecular Biomimetics

Competences: Mechanistic studies of homogeneous and enzyme catalysis related to H2 production and utilization, with specific competences including coordination chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, electrochemistry and spectroscopy.

Interests: The primary focus of our research are the so-called [FeFe] hydrogenase, the enzymes that catalyze H+/H2 interconversion and thus drive the biological hydrogen cycle. Apart from fundamental studies related to understanding the design principles of these outstanding catalysts, we also employ them in the development of biohybrid technologies for photochemical hydrogen production and hydrogen utilization.
